As summer wound down, the industry saw news of retirement from leadership at Nordstrom, Procter & Gamble, and Givaudan, and the addition of two strategic players to the Ulta Beauty board of directors.Jing Daily also reported that over 16,000 layoffs were announced in H1 2025. In August, Shiseido cut 300 jobs in the US following continued losses, Estée Lauder signaled it could reduce head count by another 3,800, and Saks Global gave pink slips to 90 employees within the luxury retailer’s commercial organization.Procter & Gamble’s Global Beauty Chief, Alexandra Keith, will retire in February 2026 and be succeeded by Freddy Bharucha. The leadership change comes alongside a broader executive transition, with COO Shailesh Jejurikar set to replace Jon Moeller as P&G President and CEO in early 2026.Debbi Hartley-Triesch, who served as Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Beauty, Accessories & Home at Nordstrom the past four years, announced her retirement and will officially depart in September. The retailer has been Hartley-Triesch’s home for the last 35 years. She started her career as a beauty advisor at the Westside Pavilion store in 1990 and quickly rose through the ranks.The Body Shop has named Alia Sirina Hawa as its new Chief Commercial and Brand Officer. Hawa joins from L'Occitane Group, where she served as President Europe, Middle East and Export Markets and held various roles at L'Occitane en Provence for more than a decade. Swiss fragrance and flavor maker Givaudan announced a succession plan for its long-serving CEO Gilles Andrier, who will retire in March 2026 after 20 years leading the company.
